My mother is here to visit, which is great because I just finished knitting a shawl for her and she’ll be able to take it back with her. I chose to knit knitty’s Aeolian Shawl in malabrigo lace in Amoroso colourway, using teeny-tiny Japanese beads. I got a special, tiny 0.5 mm clover crochet hook, which was rather pricey, to catch the yarn and slip the beads over it, one at a time; it turned out to be worth every cent, as it was a fairly easy job with a hook so good. Here’s the shawl blocking on my bed; it’s been quite difficult to spread it out nicely, and I’m so glad my mother helped me with that.
Not surprisingly, my mother was overwhelmed even before the shawl was properly blocked. I’m sure she’s going to enjoy it – in fact, she already wore it once when we went to a concert at Palau de la Musica before she and my dad returned home.
Project is raveled here.
